Assessment & Therapy
If you or a teacher are worried about your child's speech, language or communication skills, an assessment can be arranged in the location of your choice. An assessment will include:
  • Information-gathering from parent/s or carer/s (and relevant others, as appropriate)
  • A thorough assessment of the child's social skills, play skills, attention and listening skills, understanding of language, expressive language, speech, fluency and voice (as appropriate to their age and stage of development)
  • Verbal and written feedback and advice
  • A written report summarising findings and advice
There is no obligation to partake in any therapy following an assessment but therapy options will be discussed if any areas of delay in communication are found.
Exact approaches to therapy will be discussed with parents prior to any therapy commencing. However, Tip-Top Talking can support children with any of the following difficulties:

Models of Therapy
Therapy packages may include one or a number of the following:
  • Direct therapy with a child
  • Indirect therapy, i.e. by training a caregiver or teacher to carry out the therapy
  • Written reports/programmes/advice
  • Liaison with other professionals (verbal or written)
  • Attendance at meetings
Each therapy package is designed with the individual needs of the child and their environment in mind. Parents collaborate with the therapist in deciding what will work best for their child and the rest of the family.
